This weeks content was an introduction to Arduino! Ardunio is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs (eg. light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message) and turn it into an output. This is my first time working with physical computing and electronics.
Once having bearings on the Arduino, we completed an Arduino circut in class. We coded a buzzer to blink when the ultrasonic sensor component detects an object in front of it. The process consists of recreating the circut diagram and coding in Arduino IDE on my laptop.
This Arduino project uses a light sensor to prompt the output of a motor sensor moving. Below is the code, circut and GIF of the output working.
This Arduino project uses the LED matrix component of the Arduino UNO. From the code in Arduino IDE, we are able to create a physical output of a lettering light board. Circut, photos and GIF are below.
I've decided I'll go with a web-based project. Thematically, my idea is a comment on how stress and anxiety can control a person like how a person controls a computer.
COMPUTER RPG GAME: navigate a social interaction! In a website - clicking changes the screens. Interact with person but the computer controls your interaction, disabling the "human" interaction.
Idea that human-computer interaction is controlled by the human interacting - so what if the computer is the one controlling your interactions?
Through visual studio code and p5. I will create a p5.js drawing app as the main interactive part of the project at the end. I want to use a lot of animated gifs in the website and utilise digital illustration + give the user the option to digitally illustrate themselves!
